Success of Ablaze programmes depends heavily upon the active support of each business for our programmes through providing:
  • THE CHAMPION: a senior person who endorses and signs off the work with Ablaze
  • THE CO-ORDINATOR: who maintains the link with Ablaze and the school[s] the business supports
  • VOLUNTEERS: who deliver the service and impact on the young people

Airbus is proud of its 3-year working relationship with ABLAZE and its achievements to date within numerous South West schools near to its engineering and manufacturing facility in Filton, Bristol. The company works in partnership with education bodies to support the Government drive to raise education standards and support the ‘Life Long Learning’ agenda. It aspires to encourage school children to take an interest in engineering, science, technology and maths in the hope they may pursue a future career in engineering and business.

Aviva

There are 100,000 runaways in the UK living on the street. To help these young people, Aviva has linked with a national charity partner.  New research from this charity has explored the experiences and realities for children and young people who are spending the majority of their time on the streets.

 In response to this research Aviva will support the charity's ambition to ‘make a long-term sustainable difference to children alone and at risk on UK streets’. This will be achieved through supporting best practice projects which not only meet the immediate needs of children already living on the streets, but will also focus on the benefits of early intervention and prevention programmes in schools which are supported by the UK’s Department for Schools, Children and Families (DSCF).

The Bristol District Youth Team, based at Newfoundland Road has been driving youth engagement initiatives across the city since 2003.

Building strong partnerships and working together to improve outcomes for young people is paramount. We firmly believe that intervening at an early stage in a child's life can have a lasting effect and we are pleased to be working with Ablaze to this end.

The BBC is more than a broadcaster. We invite schools into the BBC and take the BBC into schools as part of our wider public purposes:
sustaining citizenship and civil society promoting education and learning stimulating creativity and cultural excellence.

Bristol City Council

 

Bristol City Council, Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) works with ABLAZE to identify where business support is needed to help raise aspiration and attainment in Bristol Schools.

CYPS aims to build sustainable partnerships between business and education and provides ABLAZE with information on local schools and priority government issues.

CMS asked Ablaze to set up a reading scheme in line with HQ's in London. The response has been fantastic, with 14 volunteers holding individual weekly sessions at Ilminster Avenue Primary School.

Computershare

As part of our commitment to community projects we partner with ABLAZE to provide Reading Buddies for three local Primary Schools in south Bristol; St. Pius X, Fair Furlong and Parson Street. Several of our employees spend time each week helping to increase pupils' literacy skills and build their confidence.

Cowlin

   

As a local contractor, with over 175 years of history in Bristol, Cowlin is keen to support the local community in as many ways as possible. However, as led by our parent company Balfour Beatty, our actions have an emphasis on supporting the younger members of society. As part of our efforts, a volunteering programme has been set up to allow our staff to take part in just such schemes as Reading Buddies and we are pleased that we are able to provide a team this year, and look forward to a successful partnership with Ablaze going forward.

Deloitte

Deloitte has a long and proud history of support for the wider community focusing on four key areas: Skills and Education, Deloitte Disability Sport, Charitable Giving and the Environment.  Deloitte also donates the professional time of its staff with an annual Community Day.  The Bristol office volunteers across a range of 6 projects and contributes around 700 hours to the community.

Duport Associates

Duport has been working with ABLAZE for two years as part of the reading buddies scheme in Bristol, assisting children at Westbury-on-Trym Primary School who need some additional help with their reading and aiming to provide them with the necessary skills to continue to succeed throughout school and in to business life.

At Ernst & Young, we ask ourselves what we can do to make a difference – not just for our clients and for our own business and profession, but for our communities.

In recognition of the important role schools play in the development of young people, and as focal points for local communities, Ernst & Young's Bristol office has established a partnership with St Michael's on the Mount primary school, implementing a Number Buddies scheme.

GE Capital

GE and the GE Foundation have been involved in ABLAZE since its inception through programme design, finance, business volunteers and secondments. Significant funding has been for the Excellence in Bristol Schools programme and Imagination at Play. They are partnered with Patchway Community College and Shield Road Primary School.

IOP Publishing

IOP Publishing is a global scientific publisher specialising in the physical sciences.  Staff were invited to support the Ablaze reading buddy scheme in 2011 as part of the company's corporate social responsibility policy.
